The Science of CBD and Weight Loss

There’s a lot of talk about CBD’s newly discovered benefits, and a lot of it is focused on its supposed ability to promote weight loss.

Now, it does seem like there is enough research to back up the credulity of this statement. However, what does the science actually say?

Let’s break it down fully and talk about all the things that CBD is meant to do for you. Does it actually live up to the hype? Let’s find out.

CBD and Appetite Control

Before we deep dive into molecular-level intensity, we’re going to be covering the basics of each of the most popular claims first. The first of which, is CBD’s relationship with Appetite Control.

According to a study that was conducted in 2018, there is reason to believe that taking CBD has the potential of reducing one’s appetite. However, things are a little more complicated than that. At least, when you look at the science behind it all.

Antagonizing CB1 Receptors

One term that you’re probably going to be hearing a lot — at least when looking up things that are related to CBD, is the term CB1 receptors. These are compounds that naturally occur in the human body, primarily in the human brain.

And, more importantly, these are in charge of stimulating your appetite. Now, if you are a cannabis user, then you should know that there is a compound in cannabis that stimulates these receptors to make you crave sweets and fatty foods.

However, that compound is completely different from CBD. For one, CBD doesn’t affect CB1 receptors directly. Instead, it blocks off certain molecules that are vital in the creation of CB1 receptors. Thus, ‘antagonizing’ the process and making it so CB1 receptors are unable to stimulate your appetite at a constant rate.

How Effective is It?

This first claim is credible, and there is enough research that we know exactly what’s going on. It should be noted, however, that while CBD might result in reduced appetite, this isn’t necessarily going to lead to significant fat loss. Not unless the user is actively burning calories (be it through a diet or through exercise.)

We always recommend you exercise and reduce calories alongside supplementing ShredCBD for optimal weight loss.

CBD and Fat Browning

This particular benefit is a two for one kind of deal. Because, according to the available research, not only is CBD able to melt bad fat away it’s also able to create good fats that actively burn more calories.

For this, we have the term fat browning to remember. As CBD actively replaces the bad fat (called white fat) with good fat (called brown fat.)

Now, to be able to talk about the science behind all of this, we must first discuss what it means to have brown fat. Because, not much is currently known about it. The only thing that we do know, is the fact that it is better than white or yellow fat.

As mentioned previously, the research claims that this type of fat is more ‘active’ — which in this case means, that it results in more calories burned. But, how does that work, and how does CBD prompt the whole fat browning process in the first place? That’s when we get into the science.

How does CBD Turn White Fat to Brown Fat?

Well, according to the study that these claims are linked to. CBD acts as an instigator in this case (opposite of its earlier effect with appetite control.) This time, rather than indirectly affecting existing processes, it sets some in motion that allows the conversion of white fat cells into brown fat cells.

It’s also been observed to increase metabolism and promote the melting of fat (the bad fat in this case.) From these facts alone, there does seem to be plenty of potential as far as the relationship between CBD and fat loss goes.

CBD and Metabolic Disorders

For the last claim left for discussion, we’re going to be keeping things pretty simple. The subject itself is simple and might not result to fat loss. However, the study that answers the question in this case does shed some light on how CBD actually affects a human body.

By that we mean, that the study was conducted on living things. Specifically, rats. Rats who were injected with CBD on a daily basis and were observed to show significantly less cholesterol – at least 25% less in obese rats.

Thus, leading the researchers to believe that CBD has the potential to lessen the risk of high blood pressure, high blood sugar levels, etc. in rodents that were obese.

Again, that doesn’t necessarily mean that the same significant effect would be seen when CBD is administered in humans (that remains inconclusive until human trials are conducted.) However, at the moment, CBD shows far more more promise than some of the other ‘miracle’ fat loss solutions in the market.

Conclusion: CBD and Fat Loss - What Does the Science Say?

With three studies, CBD and weight loss has lots of exciting potential. In fact, it overthrows plenty of other weight loss supplements available on the market.

We have developed ShredCBD in order to capitalise on the ability of CBD to help you lose weight, and also combined it with Green Tea and Garcinia Cambogia, to create a dependable and exciting new fat loss supplement.
